William H. Wright, 92

LYNN — William H. “Rocky” Wright, age 92, of Lynn, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019. He was the husband of the late Mary E. “Betty” (McDonough) Wright, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn and raised in Saugus, Rocky was the son of the late Herbert and Josephine (White) Wright. He was a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1944, and had lived in Lynn for the majority of his life.

Rocky was a proud United States Marine Corps, World War II veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre.

Rocky had worked as a draftsman for the GE in Lynn. He had a vast collection of “78” records, which he began collecting at the age of 13. He enjoyed “big bands,” bowling, photography, and his “man cave,” which he had before they became popular. He loved Hawaii, spending time with his family, and having lunch with his GE crew.

He is survived by his children, Kathleen Canizaro (Marion), Richard Wright (Helen), Donna Jean Angelli, Patricia Wright (Karin) and David Wright; his grandchildren, Kathleen Leason and her husband Adam, Vita Murphy and her husband James, Joseph Canizaro, Marysa Angelli, Michael Angelli, Emma Wright and Hannah Wright. In addition he was also the grandfather to Marion Canizaro Jr., Christina Canizaro, James Canizaro, Christine Angelli, Paul Angelli, David Angelli, Karen Angelli, Peter Angelli, Brian Dunkley, Scot Dunkley and Sarah Strasbaugh; as well as many great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Jeannette Gover.

Service information: His funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 at 12 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
