Thaddeus L. “Ted” Kurpiel, 90

Mr. Thaddeus L. “Ted” Kurpiel, 90, of Lynn passed away in a local assisted living facility. He is the husband of the late Rosalie (Comeau) Kurpiel with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Ted was born January 30, 1929. He is the son of the late Walter and Anna (Mazur) Kurpiel. He lived for 60 years in the Pine Hill neighborhood of Lynn a City he loved. He grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts where he graduated from Lawrence High School Class of 1946.

Ted was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of the CB’s and was active in many City veterans groups including the Franco Amvets Post 161 and Franco Post 12 War Veterans.

Ted worked for many years for Unitrode Corporation, Clevite Corporation and Transitron Corporation in the start of semiconductors and transistors assembly as a supervisor. He then worked for the City of Lynn Housing Authority as an Inspector for many years until his retirement. After retiring Ted worked at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home as a Funeral attendant for 15 years.

He really enjoyed the camaraderie and company of people out and about as he went about his business around Lynn. He loved seeing some of his old Pine Hill Little League players who would recognize him and identify themselves.

He was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church and was past president of Pine Hill Little League as well as a coach and manager for many years and his love for baseball was second to none. He loved all Boston sports teams and would love to follow all his kids and grandkids sports endeavors wherever they took him. He thoroughly enjoyed family and above all was devoted to the wellbeing of his children and grandchildren.

Ted’s lifelong commitment for his son Thaddeus, Jr. who was born with Spina Bifida made him stand out above and beyond any of his life’s accomplishments. He was the proud and devoted father of 7 children, son Walter Kurpiel and his wife Kathi of Ballston Lake, NY, son William Kurpiel and his wife Hope of McClean, VA, son Wayne Kurpiel of Melrose, daughter Cynthia Donovan and her husband Dan of Lynn, Peter Kurpiel and his wife Mary of Newbury, son Teddy Kurpiel, Jr. of Lynn and daughter Mary Strzempko and her husband Dave of Holliston. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Louis Kurpiel and George Gudowski.

Ted will be missed by all his family and friends but never forgotten for his wit and unique personality.

Service information: Ted’s visiting hours will be in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 4-7 PM. His Funeral will be from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church at 10:30 AM.
