Ronald D. D’Eon, 82

SAUGUS — Mr. Ronald D. D’Eon, age 82, died on Sept. 25 at the Hunt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danvers. He was the loving husband of Viva (Betty Ludwig) D’Eon.

Beloved father of John D’Eon and his wife Christine, Brenda Macqueston and her husband Tom, Rhonda Hansen and her husband Larry, Michelle Fitzpatrick and her husband John, all of Saugus, and the late James D’Eon. Cherished grandfather of Jen Cruz and her husband Jeff, Melissa Sforza and her husband Michael, Amanda, Katelyn, Nicholas, Christopher D’Eon and Meaghan Fitzpatrick. Also survived by three great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Ralph Knowlton; sister-in-law, Margie D’Eon, all of Saugus, many beloved nieces and nephews. Son of the late John R. and Rose Emily (d’Entremont) of Nova Scotia, Canada. Also predeceased by his brothers Chester, Arthur and Lawrence D’Eon; and sister, Marcella Francis.

Ronnie was a retired machinist but was best known as an award-winning Country & Western singer and bass guitarist. Along with his identical twin brother, the late Donnie D’Eon, the “Dynamic Duo” were the founders of the original band, “The Nashville Sounds.” The group performed with Doug LaValley, Jean Marie and the Country All-stars at the Wheeling, W. Va. (WWVA), Jamboree and toured with Bobby Helms through Canada and the Maritimes. After joining with front man Bob Riley, he began playing major arenas, clubs, fairs and military bases in New England. He also appeared with or backed up such stars as Ray Price, Glen Campbell, Dolly Parton and many more. Ronnie was awarded Bass Guitarist of the Year four times by the Massachusetts Country Music Awards Assoc. (MCMAA). Both he and Donnie were inducted to its Hall of Fame in 1990. Ronnie was also a true blue Patriots fan holding season tickets for more than 40 years and loved to play in slot tournaments in Las Vegas and Connecticut.

Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the BISBEE-PORCELLA Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus, on Friday, 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
