SAUGUS — Robert Bailey Furtado passed peacefully at home on Sept. 14 after a lengthy illness.

Born in East Cambridge, he resided in Saugus. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 58 years, Julie (Blake); his four children, Jim and Donna Furtado, Robyn and Tim Sharp, Bob and Robin Furtado and Ellen Furtado. He was blessed with nine grandchildren, Rachel, Tara, Julia Sharp, Allyssa, Jenna, Nick Furtado, Adrienne, Kaitlyn and Nicole Aucoin. He also leaves a sister, Lois Marchurs, and was predeceased by his brother Norman.

Bob retired from Polaroid and started B.F. Associates. He was a mason for more than 50 years,  a proud Aleppo and Bektash Shriner, Boston Commandery, Jesters and Mass Charitable Mechanic Assoc., past trustee and member of the Audit Committee at East Cambridge Savings Bank.

Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Foxhill Yacht Club, 114 Ballard St., Saugus, from 1-4 p.m.
