LYNN — Olga M. (Nardone) Benevento, age 93, of Lynn, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019. She was the wife of the late Frederick Benevento, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
A lifelong resident of Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Diometo and Josephine (Demiteria) Nardone. She was raised in Lynn and lived in the Pine Hill section of Lynn for more than 57 years.
Olga was a master homemaker and an amazing cook. She had the ability to make a scrumptious Italian meal out of almost nothing. But her main focus was caring for others. At an early age it was providing home care for her mother. Those skills and attributes remained with her for her entire life as she provided love and care for her husband Fred and her two children and then later her grandchildren. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of the highest caliber and had a genuine passion for what she did. She gave of herself for the benefit of others with unconditional love and kindness.
Olga’s greatest joy was having her family and friends around her. It was a regular practice for family and friends to congregate at the Benevento’s, especially during the holidays, while Olga would fill the house with the smell of Italian cooking and be serving up delicious meals. The door was always open. She was one of a kind and a testimony that great things come is small packages.
For the last two years she was a resident of the Lynn Home for Elderly Persons where she was loved and cared for and made many friends. She was blessed to have been able to share her time there with them. She has now been reunited with her beloved husband Frederick in God’s glory.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Benevento) Manning and her husband Duane of Queen Creek, Ariz.; her son, Richard J. Benevento of Middleton; her grandchildren, Michael Remson and his wife Kaaren of Lynn, James Rooney of Arizona, Jeanna Thompson of Peabody, Christopher Benevento and his fiancé Lejla Camdžic of Washington, D.C., and Nicole Benevento of Washington, D.C.; her great-grandchildren, Courtney and Carley Remson of Lynn, Ryan and Andrew Dudley and Olivia Thompson, all of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Alphonso Laurino, Joseph Laurino, Jenny Monforte, Emma Cordova, Clara Nardone and Edward Nardone.
