SWAMPSCOTT — Mrs. Nellie M. (Gambale) Hynes, age 94, of Swampscott, died on Monday, Sept. 17 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Morris W. Hynes.

A lifelong resident of Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late John and Concetta (Marino) Gambale of Montemarano, Avellino, Italy. Nellie was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Church. For 75 years she served as organist and choir director of the church. She also had worked for 10 years as a nursing assistant at the former Danvers State Hospital.

She leaves two daughters, Atty. Lisa M. Hynes and her husband, Atty. Steven Picone of Swampscott and Kathleen M. Hynes; her brother, Anthony Gambale; and her granddaughter, Grace Picone, all of Swampscott; as well as a niece, Darlene Sears of California. Nellie was also the sister of the late Sr. Carmella Gambale, C.S.J. and Rosemary Thomas.

Service information: Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9-10:15 a.m. in the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, 26 Bessom St., Lynn, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery.
