Mrs. Mary H. (Pearson) Gerry, 99, just shy of her 100th birthday on April 4, died on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in a local nursing home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Raymond C. Gerry.
Mrs. Gerry was born in Chelsea and raised in Lynn. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School in 1938. In 1942 she graduated from the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. She has lived in Lynn all of her life.
Mrs. Gerry worked as a registered nurse in both the Lynn and Union hospitals and did private duty in homes. She retired in 1984 at the age of 65. She was a life member of the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She was a loving and caring nurse as well as a loving and caring mother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed watching the Red Sox. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan C. Baker of Lynn, Liz Tabor and her husband Bob of Hudson, N.H.; her grandchildren, Michael R. Hayward and his wife Karen, Michelle R. Rubino and her husband Chuck, Christine Kilgore and her husband Dan, Colleen Eastwood and her husband Kevin, all of New Hampshire. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Cathy Gerry of New Hampshire. She is the mother of the late Charles A. Gerry and Raymond C. Gerry Jr.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 with visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn, followed by funeral services at 12 p.m. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
