Kathleen A. Sweeney, 63
PEABODY — Kathleen Ann Sweeney, age 63, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, lost her battle to cancer and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born Sept. 4, 1953 in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Jacqueline (Comeau) and William Sweeney. She attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. Before moving to Peabody, Kathleen had lived in Lynn for 43 years. She had worked at Analogic for 32 years until her retirement in 2016.
An avid bowler, Kathleen was the granddaughter of Hall of Fame Bowler Joe “The Pro” Comeau. She loved life, especially camping, walks along the beach, and long family rides with as many people as she could fit in to the vehicle. She was a friend of Bill W. for 34 years. Kathleen will be remembered by family and friends as a kind spirit who would help anyone in need. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed especially by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children; Bruce M. McBride Jr. and his wife Joanna of Ruffin, N.C., Lisa (McBride) Vanella of Malden, and Jessica McBride of N. Conway, N.H., and “her favorite” grandchildren whom she adored and loved from the bottom of the ocean to the top of the sky; Mysti Gray, Andrew Gray, Rayne Fleury, Jenna Vanella, Josiah McBride, Brianna McBride, Micah McBride, and Alanna McBride and “greatest grandson” AJ. She also leaves her sisters and brothers; Kathryn Amero and her husband Bruce of New Hampshire, William Sweeney and his wife Marie of North Carolina, Raymond Sweeney of Malden, Thomas Sweeney and his wife Barbara of Georgia, and Edward Sweeney and his wife Pamela of Arkansas her best friends for life Kathy Walsh Murphy of Peabody, Kathy Doucet of Lynn, and Donna Brown O’Brien of Lynn, as well as many nieces and nephews “Peace be with them all”. She was also the grandmother of the late Julia Vanella and the sister of the late John Russell.
