John McFarlane, 81
LYNN — John Alexander Wilson “Jack” McFarlane, age 81, of Lynn, died peacefully with his family at his side, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018. He was the husband of the late Rebecca “Ruby” (Ramsay) McFarlane, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Alexandria, Dubartonshire, Scotland, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Meikleham) McFarlane. He came to this country in 1958 and lived in New York before coming to Lynn in 1968.
Jack was a machinist at the GE Riverworks Plant in Lynn for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2002. A member of the Masons, Mt. Carmel Lodge, he was also a member of the Volunteer Yacht Club, where he enjoyed playing pool. He enjoyed spending time at the ocean and fishing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two children, Jack McFarlane and his wife Dolly of Lynn, and Heather Callanan and her husband Fran of Peabody; six grandchildren, Tiffany McFarlane, Meaghan Furey, Purple Heart Combat veteran, USMC Robert Mason III, PVT Cody Mason M.P. USAR, Logan Callanan, and Rylee Callanan; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Abigail, Cambree, and Rebecca; a brother, William; a sister, Lily; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Magaret, James, Euphemia, Alexander, Flora, and Mary.
Service information: His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
