Joan Mary Coughlan, 73

LYNN — Joan Mary (Aldrich) Coughlan, a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away on at the age of 73 on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2017, in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Born in Milford, Joan was the daughter of the late Ralph and Rita (Flynn) Aldrich. She was raised and educated in Uxbridge and was a graduate of St. Mary High School. While attending Massachusetts Art Institute in Boston, Joan was living with her aunt while attending school. Soon after, she met and married her sweetheart, Charles Edward Coughlan, in April of 1966 in St. Mary’s Church in Charlestown before the couple settled into Lynn to begin their family. The couple spent almost 51 years in marriage together until Charles’ passing in April of 2017.

Joan worked for many years in the retail industry, her last job being with “Special Thoughts.” She had an artistic eye and the crafty hands of a sewer. Joan had a quick Irish wit which endeared her to both her family and her new friends that she made in the Caggiano building where she lived. A lover of cards, Joan was able to get her new friends together for regular poker games. While Joan had her fun times, nothing was more enjoyable to her than spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Matriarch, Joan will truly be missed by her adoring family.

Joan leaves her daughters, Cynthia Crenscenzi and her husband, Adam of Lynn and Amanda Debs and her husband, Jerar of Canada. Joan also leaves her grandchildren; Matthew, Dylan, and Noah Croft, Emily Crescenzi, and Miriam and Elie Debs as well as her great-grandchildren; Lorelai Croft and Patrick Dellea.
