LYNN — Jennie Spiros, age 96, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at her home following a brief illness. Born in Lynn in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Peter Nicholas and Anthy (Tragelis) Spiros. She was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1940. Jennie worked as an assembler at General Electric in Lynn from 1942 until her retirement in 1985. She also worked part-time at her late brother, Peter’s store, a Greek and American Food Mart. She was a longtime and faithful communicant of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and a member of IUE-CWA Local 201.
Jennie was a simple and humble person and resided on Johnson St. since 1942. Never needing a driver’s license, she would travel everywhere by bus. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
Jennie is survived by her caring nephew, Nicholas Spiros, and his wife Pamela of Danvers; her loving Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews, Carrie and A.J. Burnett and their children, Grace and Caroline, Colleen and Andrew Ness and their children, Alexandra and Maxwell, Carol Spiros and Peter Spiros. She was the sister and sister-in-law of the late Peter and Artemis (Sentas) Spiros.
Service information: Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. at the SOLIMINE Funeral Home 426 Broadway (RTE129), Lynn. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at 9 a.m. at the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt.129), Lynn, followed by a service at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
