LYNN — Janet Breed Webber Langan, whose brilliant blue eyes and raucous laugh brightened the lives of all who met her, died peacefully at Lynn Shore Rest Home,following a lengthy illness. She passed away on June 15, her 78th birthday.
A 10th generation Lynn native, Langan attended the city’s public schools, graduating from Lynn English High School in 1957. Four years later, she received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Smith College in Northampton. In addition to being gifted with numbers, she was also an accomplished pianist.
Following college, Langan worked as an actuary at John Hancock in Boston, before moving to California, where she worked for Rocketdyne and the Matson marine shipping company. She later returned to Lynn and spent the next five decades within a few miles of her childhood home.
Langan was pre-deceased by her husband, Paul W. Langan, of Lynn; her mother, Gertrude Vert Prioli, of Swampscott; her father, Dr. Robert T. Breed, of Lynn; and two brothers, Dr. Putnam P. Breed, of Hampton Falls, N.H., and Robert T. Breed Jr., of Seattle. She leaves behind a son, Eastman Breed Webber, and his wife, Dayna, of Glen Ellen, Calif.; two grandchildren, Alexia Breed Webber, of San Francisco, Calif. and Rene Rowe Webber, of Chicago, IL; her first husband, Lambert Eastman Webber, of Greenbrae, Calif.; brothers Wade T. Breed, of Pittsburgh, Allen G. Breed, of Wake Forest, N.C., and James F.C. Breed of South Hamilton,; sisters Elizabeth Marvel, of Scurry, Texas, and Susan Breed Gambale, of Lynn; and her stepmother, Joan Breed, of Lynn.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Rt. 1A), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Directions and guestbook at Solimine.com
