LYNN — Mrs. Gloria J. (Quintero) Pedro, age 74, of Lynn, died peacefully at North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital, on Thursday, May 9, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Peter C. “Pistol Pete” Pedro Sr., with whom she shared more than 53 years of marriage.

Born in Amarillo, Texas, in 1944, Gloria was the daughter of the late Rafael and Gloria (Pinones) Quintero. She was raised in Amarillo, graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1963 and has been a resident of Lynn for more than 55 years.

Gloria worked as an administrator at Tri-City Mental Health and Project Cope for many years and was a former board member at Girls Inc. in Lynn. She was active with the PTO at Lincoln Elementary School, West Lynn Pop Warner and was a Brownie troop leader. She loved making quilts and was a talented painter and photographer. She enjoyed trips to visit her family and friends in Texas and Martha’s Vineyard and taking family vacations to North Conway. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored and would do anything for. She never missed an opportunity to attend one of their many sporting events or dance recitals.  

Gloria was the loving mother of Mimi Pedro of Chicago, Ill., Kristin Cheever of Fayetteville, N.C., Peter Pedro Jr. and his wife Michelle of Lynn, Helen Brown and her husband David of Lynn and the late Anthony “Rick” Pedro and his former wife Lisa Flynn of Lynn. She was a caring and supportive “Nana” to her grandchildren including Christopher Pedro of Lynn and Rachel Cheever of Fayetteville, N.C., and her great-grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by her siblings, Ralph Quintero Jr. and his wife Elida, Mario Quintero and his wife Connie, Maria Guerrero, Rachel Hernandez and her husband Frank, Helen Quintero, Anna Cruz and Ignacio Quintero, all of Texas, and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends including Carol “Clem” and Temberly. In addition to her husband, son and parents, Gloria was predeceased by her brother Michael Quintero.

Service information: Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 8 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn, at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
