George Leo Dunn Jr.

LYNN — It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of George Leo Dunn Jr. of Lynn.

George passed away late Saturday night on September 26th in his home surrounded by his loving family. He will be missed dearly by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

George was born and raised in Lynn on August 1st, 1927. Originally hailing from the Highlands with his lifetime wife and forever sweetheart Dahila Dunn(Schiazza). Their love story lasted 70 years!

He has been known as George, Dad, and Grampy throughout his long life. Like all of life’s stories this was one of many chapters. He graduated St. Mary’s High School in Lynn in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He served honorably until April 1949 and shortly after he married Dahlia on New Year’s Eve 1950.

After his graduation in Civil Aeronautics from Boston University his career path led him

in many directions, he spent some years working for the airlines and later worked with his brother-in- law Ralph Schiazza in their own auto mechanics business. He also worked for the GE in Lynn. George finished his career working for the City of Lynn School Department.

George’s career certainly took a back seat to his greatest treasure, his family. He had 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. George certainly had a large extended family of nieces and nephews as well as many children from The Fay Estate and Carter Road that he truly loved.

He was also a dedicated little league coach to many in Wyoma. George and Dahlia were avid spectators and rarely missed any sporting events and recitals for their beloved family. George had a passion to play golf. He loved to visit his niece Mary Robillard and her husband Tom in Florida in the winter and tee it up. We’re quite sure he would love to raise a glass to all his golf buddies!

George had so many friends and loved them all. Kings Beach Towers has been their special home for the past 20 years. Our family is so grateful to all their incredible neighbors and caregivers that have been so good to them over the years.

George is survived by his most beloved wife Dahlia and his sister-in-law Leda Barr, cousin Patty Linke (Paul, deceased) his 4 children, Anthony Dunn and (Liz Dibari) of Winthrop, Jayne Brady and (Robert) of Lynn, Christine Frazier and (Dan Frazier deceased) of Lynn, and Patrick Dunn and (Jill) of Salisbury, Vermont. He also had his pride and joy grandkids, Nicholas Frazier and (Sarah), Pamela Frazier, Nina and Alex Brady, Sam (deceased) and Ross Dunn, Zachary and Gabriel Dunn. His 4 beautiful great grandchildren Ayden Frazier and Amiliya, and Kaylee and Rowen Dunn.

It would be great for all that knew him to please raise his favorite toast, “Happy Birthday” to all!
