Lynn – Mrs. Elsie Beatrice Shelton transitioned from earth to glory on January 10, 2021 at the seasoned age of ninety-six years old. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, she relocated to Lynn, Massachusetts in the mid-70s, where she was later employed at Union Hospital until her retirement.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took pride in her family, reminding them to always ask God for his guidance.
In her spare time, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, making beaded jewelry, and bowling. She was an excellent bowler and could often be found at Lucky Strike Bowling and Metro Bowling Alley knocking many pins down in one strike; but more than even bowling, Elsie loved reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, and praising the Lord.
She had dual membership at Zion Baptist Church in Lynn, Massachusetts where she was ordained as a Deaconess and also at Living Elevated Church in Brockton, Massachusetts, where she become the official Mother of the church.
She leaves to cherish her memory and to live out her legacy, two loving daughters, Johnnie Shelton and Mattie Valrie; two grandsons, Roderick Valrie (Sheila) and Eric Shelton (Morenike); one granddaughter, Rashanda Shelton; and four great-grandchildren, Roderick Valrie, Jr., Shaleah Valrie, Aryana Richardson, and Willow-Symone Shelton.
