Elinor M. Carroll
LYNN — Mrs. Elinor M. (Scanlon) Carroll, a lifelong Lynn resident, died on July 7, surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Carroll.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth M. (Hyde) Scanlon, and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. During WWII she worked at the West Lynn GE.
Elinor was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She and Joseph enjoyed ballroom dancing and were both active in the Pine Hill Little League. Elinor’s greatest joy was to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elinor is survived by her children, Michael T. Carroll and his wife Linda of Clifton Park, N.Y., John “Jack” J. Carroll and his wife Susan of Lynn and Colleen M. Bertolino and her husband Leo of Peabody; and she also leaves a brother, retired Lynn Firefighter John “Jack” Scanlon of Lynn; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Claire McCulley and Mary DeRoo and cousin of the late William Collins.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on July 12 at 9:30 a.m. from the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Lynn, at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
