Elijah Britton Jr., 64

Former GE employeeLYNN – Elijah “E.J.” Britton Jr., age 64, of Lynn, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in Union Hospital, after being stricken suddenly. He was the husband of Rose (Barnhill) Britton, and the son of the late Elijah and Gracie (Clark) Britton.Born and raised in Brookneal, Va., he moved to Boston in 1963. He has lived in Lynn since 1973. A graduate of Rustburg High School, Campbell County, Va., Mr. Britton worked as an electric assembler at General Electric in Lynn for 28 years.He was a member of the Board of Directors at the YMCA in Lynn. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed deep-sea fishing all over the coast of Massachusetts. He also enjoyed photography, playing cards and Bingo. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Boston.Besides his wife Rose, he is survived by two daughters, Rochelle Hynds of Falls Church, Va. and Amanda Britton of Lynn; one son, Jeffrey Britton of Wilmington, Del. and a dear friend, Paul Yahnian of Methuen; his grandson, Jeffrey Britton Jr. and a brother, David Britton and sister, Ruby Goode, both of Boston. He was the brother-in-law of Marie and John A. Muschette of Lynn and Delores Spraggins of New Jersey. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James and Lacy Spraggins, Annie Mae Callahan and Kathleen Mosby Scott.Service information: Funeral services will be held in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129) Lynn on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
