Corinne M. Nelson, 81
SWAMPSCOTT — On Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, Corinne M. Nelson, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away at age 81.
Corinne was born on Aug. 15, 1938 to Joseph and Evelyn (Saulnier) Ryan. After graduating from Swampscott High School, she obtained her undergraduate degree from Framingham State University. On June 30, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Nelson. They raised three sons, Bill Jr., Bryan and Timmy, and a daughter, Nancy.
Corinne was a lifelong resident of Swampscott. When her husband passed away at an early age, she returned to teaching and taught elementary school in the Swampscott public school system, and educated many students at Stanley and Clarke elementary schools. She was a very well-respected teacher, and received several awards recognizing her dedication and excellence as an educator. While working and raising her children as a single mother, she obtained her master’s degree from Salem State University. She was very active in her church, St. John the Evangelist, and would often be seen at daily Mass. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and attending musical theater.
Corinne was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, as well as her brother Joe. She is survived by her four children and their spouses; 11 loving grandchildren; her sisters, Sonia, Nellie; and brother, Richard; many nieces and nephews, and many devoted, lifelong friends.
Service information: A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn, from 4-8 p.m., and a funeral on Friday, Oct. 18 at St. John the Evangelist Church at 198 Humphrey St., Swampscott, at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
