Claire T. Monks, 89
LYNN — Mrs. Claire T. (McIsaac) Monks, age 89, of Lynn, died on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William Monks, who predeceased her in 1972.
Born in Lynn in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ernest McIsaac and the late Irene (Vient) (McIsaac) Montieth. She was raised in Lynn, attended St. Mary’s School and Girl’s High School from grades 1-12 and has been a lifelong resident of Lynn.
Claire worked as a payroll clerk at General Electric for many years and was a member of IUE-CWA, Local 201. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and needlepoint and would often make mittens and other items for her family and school children in need. She loved camping at Silver Sands Camp Ground with her family and following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends, taking trips to Hawaii, Europe and other places around the world. Claire was a resident of Kings Beach Towers and was active in many of their social activities and groups. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by those who knew her best.
Claire is survived by her children, Susan Howard and her husband Edward of Lynn, Steven Monks and his wife Kim of Arundel, Maine, Thomas Monks and his wife Julie of Lynn and Tim Monks and his wife Jean of Lynn; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Irene.
Service information: A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
