Barbara M. Granese, 79
LYNN — Barbara Mae Granese, age 79, of Lynn, died Tuesday in the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of James A. Granese, with whom she shared nearly 62 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Doris (Ingram) Henson. She had lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life.
Barbara worked as a nurse’s aide at Woodbridge Assisted Living in Peabody until her retirement in 2007. She had also worked at the former Abbey Hill Nursing Home in Saugus. She enjoyed bingo and word search puzzles, Elvis Presley music and her weekend trips to the family camp in New Hampshire. She also loved spending time with her dog, Max. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Daniel J. Granese and his wife Joanne of Florida, Linda M. Austin and her husband Sean of Newton, N.H., Kathleen A. Moriarty and her husband Brian of Goffstown, N.H., and Susan M. Granese of Revere; five grandchildren, Chad, Danielle, Charlie, Michael, and Laura and her husband Ricky; her siblings, David Henson, Laura Jean Dickerson, Gail Trenholm, Judy Moody, Sandra Rice, Rolane Henson, Candy Dunlop, Cheryl Bloch and Darrell Henson; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William Walker, Carol April, Anne Lowell, Dawn Erskine and Arthur Henson.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
