Arthur J. Palleschi, 74
HARWICH — Atty. Arthur J. Palleschi, age 74, of Harwich, died Wednesday at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Judith A. (Hinch) Palleschi, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Sposito) Palleschi. He was raised in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School, Class of 1960. In high school he played football under the legendary Coach Stan Bondelevitch. He was also a 1964 graduate of Nichols College and a 1967 graduate of New England School of Law. He was a Swampscott resident for 56 years before moving to Harwich.
Arthur was involved in many professional and civic activities. Arthur was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the New England Bar Association. He was a practicing attorney in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nearly 50 years. He was active in the Swampscott Community as a member of the Board of Selectman and served as Chairman. He was the Assistant and Town Council for the Town of Swampscott. Arthur was the Chief General Counsel for Lynn Water and Sewer Commission. He was an avid golfer and member of the Cranberry Valley Golf Club in Harwich. He was a member of the Town of Harwich Golf Committee for Cranberry Valley Golf Course. He was also a member of the Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead and the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club. Arthur was a communicant of both St. John the Evangelist Church and Holy Family Church. He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Civic Organization (The Italian Club). He was a member of the Swampscott Boosters Club and served as a Little League Coach. Arthur was a member of Rotary International and Swampscott Rotary serving as past president. He was a member of the Upper Swampscott Improvement Association, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Swampscott Jaycees. Arthur was a member of both the Swampscott and Harwich Republican Town Committees. He also enjoyed reading, writing, and above all, spending time with his grandchildren, whom he deeply loved and adored.
In addition to his wife, who he knew as a friend for 67 years, he is survived by two sons; Edward A. Palleschi and his wife Sheila of Swampscott, and Jeffrey J. Palleschi and his wife Jennifer of Vero Beach, Fla.; three daughters; Lauren Sampson of Swampscott, Amy Cullen and her husband Christopher of North Reading, and Susan Kearney and her husband Sean of Stowe, Vt.; as well as 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Service information: His funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route1A), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. Burial will be in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
