LYNN — Ms. Antoinette A. Pappa, 96 years, of Lynn, died on Monday, June 10, 2019 in Philip’s Manor Nursing home after a brief illness.
She was born, raised and lived in Lynn her entire life. She was the loving daughter of the late Philip and Carmella (Rufo) Pappa. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend who enjoyed her travels to Las Vegas, Bermuda, the Bahamas and Hawaii.
Ms. Pappa worked as director of housekeeping at the former Lenox Hill Nursing Home and Rehab Center. She started as a nurse’s aid and worked her way up in the organization. She maintained her devotion to her patients even when she was no longer working on the floor. She always made time to stop and visit, brightening the days of many and ensuring they received the best of care. When not working she enjoyed shopping with her niece and travels to Las Vegas, Bermuda, the Bahamas and Hawaii.
Ms. Pappa is survived by her niece, Mary F. McGuire and her husband Douglas McTernan of Santa Fe, N.M.; and her sister, Phyllis Cutone of Atlanta, Ga. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She is the sister of the late Constance Hughes, Josephine Moyer, Viola Evangelista, Carmen Pappa, Philip Pappa, Jr. and Mary A. McGuire.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, Lynn, at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior to her funeral.
