William H. Moody Exhibit Open House at the Buttonwoods Museum
September 23, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
The community is invited to an open house of the newly renovated, permanent exhibit from the Hon. William H. Moody Collection. The reception is at the Buttonwoods Museum, 240 Water Street, Haverhill, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and there is some parking onsite. Note: The exhibit is up one flight of stairs.
The exhibit commemorates the life and legacy of the Hon. William H. Moody during 2017, the centennial of his July 2 death. William Henry Moody (1853–1917), a friend of both Theodore Roosevelt and William Taft, made his name as a prosecutor in the Lizzie Borden trial before serving as a congressman, secretary of the Navy, attorney general, and Supreme Court justice. Throughout his career, Moody represented the people of Essex County and the ideals of the Progressive Era.
Exhibit made possible by the Nathaniel & Elizabeth P. Stevens Foundation and Haverhill Bar Association in honor of Judge Kevin Herlihy.
