LYNN — A 10-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle while walking on Broad Street Monday.
Police responded to the crash at around 6:15 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, they found the boy suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and took him to the hospital, according to Lynn Police Lt. Michael O’Connell.
At the scene, the boy was laying on the ground with his eyes closed and appeared unresponsive as EMTs checked his vital signs and administered first aid. He could later be seen being loaded onto a stretcher by first responders.
A woman who said she witnessed the crash said that the boy was struck by a moving black truck while he tried to cross the street. She said that she did not see the vehicle brake or slow down after striking the child.
“The guy who hit him was coming from this way, the light was green, and the little kid was coming from that way straight, but he didn’t brake, he didn’t slow down, he didn’t stop,” the woman, who declined to provide her name, said.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
