LYNN — A driver who crashed his vehicle into a fence bordering a city park Thursday morning is suspected of overdosing before the collision, Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Police officers responded to Ontario and Tapley streets shortly after 10 a.m., and found a vehicle that had collided with the fence bordering Gallagher Park, Kmiec said.
The operator was unresponsive and firefighters had to break a window to gain access to him, Kmiec said.
“It is believed that the 41-year-old male operator suffered an opioid overdose while operating the vehicle,” said Kmiec.
The driver was transported to the hospital for treatment and will be summoned into court for motor-vehicle charges, Kmiec said.
