LYNN — TasteBudz, a cannabis delivery service, held a virtual public informational meeting regarding a proposed marijuana establishment in the city on Thursday night.
The meeting, which was hosted by TasteBudz CEO Jason Berrora and investor and advisor Joseph Lekach, provided detailed information about the potential dispensary that would be built at 1103 Western Ave. The site would serve as the base of operations for delivering cannabis gummies, chocolates and other consumables to customers across the city.
“A customer would place an order from our website or mobile app and then choose a time for delivery,” Berrora explained. “Then our delivery agent would pick and pack the order and give it to our driver for delivery to the customer.”
Berrora presented the proposed building plan, which would be built in the high industrial area of Lynn and would not be near any residential buildings, public or private high schools and any other cannabis dispensaries, and is in compliance with state and local laws regarding the building of cannabis dispensaries.
Berrora further explained that those who wish to order from TasteBudz must provide identification as part of the safety procedures.
“We strictly work exclusively with licensed compliant partners, and all deliveries were made by background-checked employees,” said Berrora.
The public meeting was open for questions or concerns from residents who were curious about the Tastebudz building and delivery business. Aside from members of the TasteBudz team, no one attended the meeting.
TasteBudz intends to seek a special permit and site-plan approval from the City Council and its Recreational Cannabis Site Plan Review subcommittee.
Berrora said this would be the first marijuana-delivery service in the city and, if successful, hopes to branch out towards other areas across Massachusetts, namely the western part of the state.
Berrora said there is an opportunity for jobs in Lynn and TasteBudz would help those looking for work.
“A marijuana-delivery operator will add 10 to 20 full-time and part-time jobs,” said Berrora. “A preference of these jobs will be given to the residents of Lynn.”
TasteBudz would not be the only cannabis-based business in Lynn. Several recreational cannabis shops have already opened in the city, including Apothca on the Lynnway, Olde World Remedies on Western Avenue, Diem Cannabis on Lewis Street, and Ethos Dispensary on Oxford Street.
Yet, Berrora has high hopes for TasteBudz and believes this will be revolutionary for the city and its residents.
