Behind a pair of game-clinching 3-pointers from Ali Barry and David Brown Jr. in the third overtime period, the St. Mary’s boys basketball team picked up a thrilling 70-64 victory over Arlington Catholic in a Catholic Central League battle on the road Tuesday night.
“Going on the road in the CCL is always tough, and we had to really battle to steal this win,” said St. Mary’s coach Dave Brown. “I give AC a ton of credit, they came out and really took it to us.”
Omri Merryman was the player of the game with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Brown finished with 15 points and Barry added 12.
St. Mary’s (9-1) hosts rival Bishop Fenwick Wednesday (6:30).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lynn Classical 57, Malden 50
Marquese Avery led the offensive attack for the Rams with 16 points and five steals, while Almani Medina just missed a double-double after finishing with 14 points and eight assists.
Classical (3-2) hosts rival Lynn English Thursday (7).
Innovation 54, Lynn Tech 43
The Tigers got a great performance from Eldrick Gonzalez, who put up a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds while also adding seven steals in the loss. Andre Young scored 15 points.
Tech (0-5) travels to Nashoba Friday (5:30).
Amesbury 74, Lynnfield 57
Despite the loss, the Pioneers got strong games from Gavin Deluties (14 points) and Zach Pincus (12 points). Alex Fleming notched a double-double in the loss, finishing with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Lynnfield (1-4) turns right around for a road game against Melrose Wednesday (6).
Winthrop 63, Swampscott 62
Chris Cappuccio, who finished with 16 points, knocked down the game-winning three with 2.5 seconds left in the game to earn the victory for the Vikings.
Luca Zanelli led the way for the Vikings with 22 points, while Zach Bogusz and Mikey Chaves each scored 11 points.
Winthrop (3-4) travels to Pioneer Charter Thursday (5:45).
Everett 64, Lynn English 38
English (4-2) travels to rival Lynn Classical Thursday night (7).
Revere 56, Chelsea 52
James Clauto had a big night with 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Domenic Boudreau finished with 10 points. Ramadan Barry notched nine points off the bench.
Revere (3-2) hosts Malden Thursday (7).
Beverly 90, Saugus 44
Tyrone Manderson scored 16 points in the loss for the Sachems, while Ben Tapia-Gately added 10 points.
Saugus (3-1) has a full week off before hosting Greater Lawrence Tuesday (7).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynn Tech 40, Innovation 34
Dayana Hios-Edwards led the way in the win for the Tigers, finishing with a full stat sheet of 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Jayleen Novas notched nine points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Olivia DeJesus scored six points.
Tech (3-3) hosts Nashoba Friday (5:30).
St. Mary’s 81, Arlington Catholic 19
Yirsy Queliz continued her strong start to the season with a team-high 14 points to lead the way, while Julianna Conte and Niya Morgen each scored 10 points.

Saugus 35, Beverly 32
The Sachems returned to the court and picked up a close win at home behind a double-double from Fallon Millerick (13 points, 16 rebounds).
Peyton DiBiasio also had a solid night with 11 points, while Ashleen Escobar came up with two big baskets down the stretch to help the Sachems earn the win. April Aldred played a stellar game on the defensive end for the Sachems.
Saugus (2-3) hosts Medford Friday evening (5:30).
Lynn English 61, Everett 27
Behind a big game from Rosie Chheang (22 points, five steals and four assists), the Bulldogs kept their undefeated record intact Tuesday.
Jari Perez notched eight points and four rebounds, while Alisha Jean finished with six points and 14 rebounds. Amara Flores (five points, six rebounds and six steals) and Jaeleigh Perry (five points, six rebounds) also played well in the victory.
English (5-0) hosts rival Lynn Classical Thursday (5).
Lynn Classical 45, Malden 39
Three Rams finished in double figures on the night, with Reese Brinkler and Ava Thurman each scoring 11 points and Lauren Wilson adding 10 points.

Winthrop 51, Swampscott 30
The Vikings got back to .500 on the season after a physical team victory at home.
Lily Conway led the Vikings with 12 points, while Kaylee Farrell added 10 points.

Marblehead 57, Salem 52
Samantha Dormer led all scorers with 25 points in the win, while Ella Kramer (16 points) and Molly Cronin (four points) also played well for the Magicians.

For the Witches, Yamilette Guerrero led the way with 15 points while Cassadi O’Leary notched nine points.

Cole Brooks was a double-winner for the Magicians, taking home first place in the 100-meter butterfly (55.94 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (56.13). Song Waitekus also earned a win on the day, placing first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.36 — good enough to qualify for states.
