LYNN — Mayor-elect Jared Nicholson and Covanta, a waste-management company, are hosting a post-holiday purge on Saturday, Jan. 8, where Lynn residents can unload unwanted items at a designated drop off at 247 Commercial St.
This free resource will give residents a place to bring items that they cleaned out from their attics, cellars, porches, hallways, rooms and garages.
“Start the new year with a clean house,” the city said in a statement.
This event will allow residents, who must show identification, to drop items off from 8 a.m. to noon.
Covanta will not accept TVs, tires, hazardous material, or building-contractors’ construction material.
Additionally, no U-Haul trucks or commercial vehicles are allowed.
Covanta works with companies and communities to find sustainable solutions to their waste-management challenges.
Using a global network of energy-from-waste and material-processing facilities, Covanta said it is preserving valuable natural resources and generating clean energy for its client communities and the world.
Lynn has partnered with Covanta in the past for “Covanta Days,” formerly known as dumpster days, where residents can drop off certain materials and items on scheduled days.
