SWAMPSCOTT — ReachArts prepared a series of concerts that will help residents shake off the winter blues.
Swampscott’s arts organization, ReachArts, brings together residents and artists of all ages, culture, ethnicities and means, to create, collaborate and learn from one another. The organization announced a fun three-concert series that will take place indoors at ReachArts for everyone to enjoy live music, said musician Philip Alexander, who created the series.
“These are going to be coffee-shop-style events,” said Alexander. “We have some great bands lined up.”
The Winter Concert Series will feature some of the best performers around, according to ReachArts.
Each show has a theme: Winter Blues (date TBD), for lovers of the blues and R&B genre; Love is in the Air (Feb. 12), to get guests into the Valentine’s Day mood; and Luck of the Irish (Mar. 12), which will transport the audience to the Emerald Isle right in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
Guests can expect to be treated to blues, Americana, Beatles hits, alt-country, soul, folk-rock and Celtic/Irish-American ballads from such bands as Blue Troubadours, One Dime Band, Stacking Stones Band, Blue Honey Drops and Boston Harbor Bhoys.
Swampscott’s own Lindsay Garfield will be performing with award-winning artist Andrew Blowen of the band One Hand Free. Garfield is a singer, songwriter, and musical educator. She writes songs for TV and film, has toured internationally, and has performed at the iconic Fillmore venue in San Francisco and on Good Morning America.
The events will have an intermission and refreshments such as coffee, cookies and tea.
Alexander hopes that COVID-19 won’t spoil the concert series, even though the first January concert has been postponed.
“We are keeping our fingers crossed,” said Alexander.
Registration is recommended for guaranteed seating. Each show requires individual registration.
Proof of vaccination and masks are required (subject to change depending on CDC guidance).
