LYNN — The boyfriend of Sherell Pringle, whose body was found on Route 107 in Saugus on Tuesday, was arraigned in Lynn District Court Thursday on charges of larceny, tampering with evidence, and obstruction in relation to Pringle’s death.
Bruce Maiben, 44, of Lynn is not currently facing any murder charges and is being held until a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for next Tuesday.
Maiben, who pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, was reported to have been out with Pringle, 40, on Saturday, Dec. 18 — the night she went missing from Woburn.
When Pringle did not return home, her teenage son called the police to report her missing.
Pringle’s family led a search for her, finding her phone in a sewer in Lynn.
They continued searching the Lynn and Saugus area for Pringle, finding her purse on the side of the highway. Family members then walked throughout that area, and eventually located her body in the marsh.
The courtroom was filled with dozens of family members and friends of Pringle on Thursday afternoon, some crying and hugging each other.
As Maiben was being escorted out of the courtroom after the arraignment, people yelled “murderer” and shook their heads at Maiben.
Pringle’s sister said “we found her and we want justice,” as a crowd gathered outside of the courtroom.
“I love my sister. I miss my sister and I want her back,” Pringle’s sister said. “Her baby now doesn’t have a mother; brothers don’t have their sister.”
Another family member of Pringle said the whole situation is very sad and Maiben ‘has to pay’ because he “did the wrong thing.”
Maiben’s lawyer, John Morris, said his client denied killing his girlfriend and hasn’t been charged with homicide.
“I’ve seen no evidence that supports any of these allegations,” Morris said.
Maiben will appear again in Lynn District Court on Tuesday, Dec. 28 for a dangerousness hearing.
