Also named as Item All-Stars for the 2021 volleyball season were Lynn Classical senior Samantha Thoeun, Lynnfield junior Ella Gizmunt, Marblehead junior Keira Sweetnam, Peabody junior Isabel Bettencourt and Peabody sophomore Abby Bettencourt.
Thoeun led the Rams in assists this season with 256, while also leading the way in aces with 86. She also finished the year with 146 digs, 97 kills and 75 service points.
Gizmunt was one of the top players in the fiercely competitive Cape Ann League this year, notching more than 200 kills and helping to lead the Pioneers to a 16-4 season and a trip to the Division 4 semifinal.
Sweetnam — who notched more than 150 total kills in the Magicians' 18 games — was named the Northeastern Conference MVP after helping to lead Marblehead to a 14-4 regular season.
Isabel Bettencourt contributed all over the court for the Tanners, notching 164 service points, 55 aces, 228 digs, 213 kills as Peabody went 15-4 during the regular season and made a run to the Division 1 Round of 16.
Abby Bettencourt established herself as one of the best setters in the area during her sophomore year, putting up an eye-popping 452 assists in 21 games played. She also had a solid year across other parts of the game, finishing with 108 service points, 155 digs and 84 kills.
Other local volleyball players who earned all-star honorable mention status for the 2021 season were Annabelle Dao and Izzy Faessler (Lynn Classical); Veronica Moeun and Stephen Srey (Lynn English); Jaisinairy Camilo and Derlande Montas (Lynn Tech); Molly Cummings (St. Mary's); Jessica Furtado and Sophia Pregent (Bishop Fenwick); Grace Davie, Giuliana Guarracino and Sarah Foley (Lynnfield); Kristina Cardello, Lauryn Mendonca and Sarah Broughton (Peabody); Lilah Thompson, Caitlin Parkman, Nicolette Teti and Julia Potvin (Marblehead); Fallon Millerick (Saugus); Anna Cantone and Natalie Wessell (Salem); Nickole Fein and Anastasia Hayes (Swampscott) and Megan Goudge (Winthrop).
