Marblehead football rolls into Division 3 Super Bowl

SHREWSBURY ― The list of excuses could have been a mile long for the Marblehead football team coming into Saturday's Division 3 semifinal game, but the No. 1 Magicians didn't let anything get in the way of a win. Behind a stout defensive effort and an explosive attack on offense, Marblehead rolled past No. 5 Westfield by a score of 40-7 to punch a ticket to the Division 3 Super Bowl.

"There were plenty of things we had to overcome that could have been distractions, and I give credit to our guys for staying focused on the task at hand," said Marblehead coach Jim Rudloff. "We pulled up to the school (Saturday) morning while the powderpuff game was going on, we had an hour-plus bus ride to get here and our rival made it to the Super Bowl (Friday) night. But our guys showed up, did their jobs and stayed focused the whole time. It was a great team win."
