After a season of solid play that culminated in a Catholic Conference title and a Division 1 state title, the St. John’s Prep golf team had four players honored as Catholic Conference all-stars when the awards were announced this week.
The quartet of Alex Landry, Ian Rourke, Nick DeVito and Terry Manning were all named to the all-star team after all four played a key role in the title victory.
In the Division 1 state championship at Wentworth Hills Golf Club in Plainville back on Oct. 25, Landry led the way with a score of 3-over 74 — good enough to tie for fifth place in the individual championship. Ian Rourke and Terry Manning finished in a tie for 10th place with identical scores of 5-over 76. The Eagles shot a cumulative team score of 22-over 306 to beat Wellesley by two strokes.
The rest of the Catholic Conference all-star team was made up of Joey Lenane, Spencer Dumas and Ryan Scollins (Xaverian); Nick McCabe, Devon Regan and Jack Kaster (BC High); John Pagano, Matthew Quinn, Liam Tenney and Sean Tenney (St. John’s Shrewsbury); Jack Kelly (Catholic Memorial); and Brendan Zinck (Malden Catholic).
