The Northeastern Conference has announced its 2021 boys soccer all-stars, and a number of local players were honored.
Taking home Player of the Year honors was Beverly senior Nick Braganca, who notched a stellar 20 goals and 14 assists in 17 games for the Panthers.
Braganca was joined on the NEC All-Conference Team by teammates and fellow seniors Teo Berbic and Ian Visnick.
The rest of the NEC All-Conference Team was made up of Peabody senior Nick Soper, Peabody junior Victor Maciel, Swampscott senior Valerio Tatafiore, Winthrop senior Gustav Hemmingsen, Masconomet senior Sam Brockleman, Masconomet senior Kevin Pelletier, Danvers junior Chance Prouty, Gloucester senior Andrew Coelho and Gloucester senior Jack Patten.
The NEC All-Star Team was split between the two divisions, which were renamed the Dunn Division and Lynch Division earlier this year.
The Dunn Division All-Stars included Michael Balke and Mattie Calver (Peabody); Lucas Bereaud (Swampscott); Henry Bell and Nick Fox (Beverly); Brennan Johnston, Eion O’Brien and Jason Karas (Masconomet); and Ali Elhadidy and Sean Ouellette (Danvers).
On the other side, the Lynch Division All-Stars included Alejandro Ortega and Cameron Soroko (Saugus); Schuyler Schmitt and Oliver Buckhoff (Marblehead); Juan Nieves and Mateo Martinez (Winthrop); Chris Qirjazi (Salem); and Max Sperry, Kayky Barbosa and Aidan Almeida (Gloucester).
Salem High was chosen for the Team Sportsmanship Award, while Gloucester’s Armando Marnoto was selected as the NEC Coach of the Year.
