Lynn Classical girls soccer faces uphill playoff battle after unbeaten season

The MIAA released its 2021 girls soccer playoff brackets Tuesday night, and the Lynn Classical girls found out that — despite an undefeated regular season — the Rams will have to not only play in the preliminary round, but also play on the road.

Classical went 15-0-3 this year, but the Rams officially came in at No. 46 in the Division 1 power rankings — just 11 spots ahead of last-place Lawrence, which went 0-18-0. After all of the teams that finished under .500 ahead of Classical were eliminated, the Rams earned the No. 37 seed and will play on the road at No. 28 Central Catholic in the preliminary round Thursday. 

Peabody came in at No. 23 in the Division 1 bracket, finishing 7-5-4 during the regular season. That was good enough to earn the Tanners a preliminary round bye, but it also means they will have a tough opening matc…
