The Swampscott field hockey team continued its solid start to the season Monday afternoon, notching a 2-0 victory over Northeastern Conference foe Gloucester at Blocksidge Field.
Brooke Waters notched both goals in the win for the Big Blue, while Olivia Baran and Isabella Modica each had one assist. Olivia Passalacqua and Coco Clopton also played well in the victory.
Swampscott (5-1-1) travels to Masconomet Wednesday (4).

Archbishop Williams 185, St. Mary’s 114
The Spartans had an uphill climb after their top two players were out of the match, but St. Mary’s still got strong performances from Eric Bridges (20 points), Kyle Rush (18 points), Josh Doney (18 points) and Andrew Potter (16 points).
St. Mary’s (5-7) returns to the course Tuesday (3) for a home match against Arlington Catholic at Gannon Municipal Golf Course. The Spartans will need to win three of their final four matches in order to qualify for the state tournament.
Beverly 56, Marblehead 16
The Magicians ran into a tough Beverly team Monday, falling in all eight matches.
Christopher Locke still had a solid day in the loss, earning medalist honors with a score of 40. Marty Ryan also had a solid match with four points.
Marblehead (6-1) plays on the road at Gloucester Wednesday (4).
Swampscott 52 1/2, Winthrop 19 1/2
The Big Blue got back to .500 on the season following a win at Tedesco Country Club Monday afternoon.
Winners on the day for Swampscott were Will Roddy (8-1), Dawson DiBarri (6-3), Ben O’Brien (9-0), Nate Maercklein (8 1/2-1/2), Connor Correnti (7-2) and Quinn Fitzpatrick (8-1).
Swampscott (3-3) is right back in action Tuesday afternoon (3:30) for a tri-match against Winthrop and Northeast at Winthrop Golf Club.
Salem 44, Saugus 28
Winners for the Witches on the day were Brady Tremblay (8 1/2-1/2), Riley Finnerty (5-4), Diego Acuna (5 1/2-3 1/2), Jayren Romero (6-3) and Harry Devoe (6 1/2-2 1/2).
Salem (3-3) travels to Revere Tuesday (4).
BOYS SOCCER
St. Mary’s 1, Bishop Feehan 1
Thanks to a penalty-kick goal in the second half from Ryan Fraher, the Spartans were able to walk away from their battle against the Division 1 powerhouse with a point.
“That was the best soccer we’ve played this year,” said St. Mary’s coach Mike D’Agostino. “We moved the ball well and went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the state. It was a great all-around performance for us.”
Richie LeBrun, Cade Cornell and Nick Miller played well in the draw for the Spartans.

Lynnfield (4-2-1) travels to Georgetown Wednesday (3:45).

Tyler Mullen and Ryan Noci scored one goal each for the Crusaders, while Luke Murray and Mehdi Khemmich each had one assist.

Amy Hatfield and Ally Mitchell each scored one goal in the win, while Ella Demakis notched one assist.
Fenwick (3-0-3) is off until Friday (4), when it travels to Bishop Feehan.

Lynnfield (3-3-1) hosts Georgetown Wednesday evening (6).
Marblehead 2, Weston 2
Annie Sheridan scored the game-tying goal on a penalty kick late in the second half, while Annika Haley also added a goal in the draw. Cait Mullins had one assist, while goalkeeper Catherine Comstock notched a season-high six saves in net.
Marblehead (5-1-1) hosts Saugus Wednesday night (7:30).
Bishop Feehan 10, St. Mary’s 0
Allie Fritz and Olivia Egan played well in the loss for the Spartans.

VOLLEYBALL
Lynn Classical 3, Somerville 0
The Rams took the match by set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-14.
Chloe Clement had a big game in the win for Classical with six kills, 10 digs and four aces, while Samantha Thoeun had four kills, five assists and four aces.
Classical (9-0) will look to earn its tournament-clinching 10th win of the season Wednesday evening (5:15) against Chelsea.
“The key for us at this point is not looking too far ahead and just focusing on the task in front of us,” said Classical coach Chris LeBlanc. “We’re still learning and we’re not good enough to go into a game not playing our best volleyball, so we’ve got to stay focused out there.”
Revere 3, Everett 0
Revere (5-6) hosts Somerville Wednesday (5:30).
Winthrop 3, Lynn Tech 1
The Tigers fell by set scores of 20-25, 20-25, 26-24, 16-25.
Jasinairy Camilo led the way with seven assists, three aces and one kill, while Derlande Montas added seven kills and one ace. Lilly Cote had six kills and two aces in the loss.
Tech (3-4) plays on the road at Greater Lowell Wednesday (5:30).
