LYNN ― Firefighters were called to action on Wednesday when a small fire broke out in an apartment building on Beach Road.
Residents of 17 Beach Road had to act fast when a stove caught fire at approximately 2 p.m. The tenants grabbed the fire extinguisher located in the building’s hallways and quickly put out the flames, the fire department said.
Fire Capt. Joseph Zukas praised the residents for their quick thinking.
“They did a good job,” he said.
Fire extinguishers contain pressurized carbon dioxide and nitrogen, which is propelled in a stream at the flames. While it is nontoxic, it is important that users clean up the mess afterward.
While nobody was hurt in the incident, Zukas explains that, while this was a minor fire, it could’ve been a lot worse if the tenants were not quick on their toes.
