It was a banner day for St. Mary’s senior golfer Aidan Emmerich, as the team captain set a Spartans school record by making four birdies and posting a score of 3-under par to score 42 points in a 176-68 win over St. Joseph Prep Wednesday afternoon at Gannon Municipal Golf Course.
Andrew Potter and Eric Bridges followed up Emmerich’s performance with 28 points each, while Sean Mathers had 24 points. Shea Newhall, Kyle Rush, and Luke DiLisio each scored 18 points.
St. Mary’s (3-3) travels to Bishop Fenwick Thursday (3).
“We know it’s going to be a tough match against Fenwick, so we’re hoping we can put together a solid performance like we did (Wednesday),” said St. Mary’s coach Jay Fiste.

Swampscott 50, Saugus 22
After more than a week of down time, the Big Blue returned to notch a big win at Tedesco Country Club.
Winners for Swampscott were Lou Spellios (7 1/2-1 1/2), Jason Bouffard (7 1/2-1 1/2), Ben O’Brien (6-3), Will Roddy (7-2), Dawson DiBarri (7-2), Dakoda Langervain (6-3), and Quinn Fitzpatrick (6 1/2-2 1/2).
Swampscott (1-1) travels to Beverly Monday (4).
BOYS SOCCER
Bishop Fenwick 8, Arlington Catholic 1
Ryan Noci led the offensive attack for Fenwick with three goals and one assist, while Mehdi Khemmich added two goals and four assists in the victory.
Fenwick (1-1-1) hosts Hamilton-Wenham Friday (3:30).

Kaya Jackson scored both goals for the Spartans in Wednesday’s loss.

Marco Escobar, Christian Garcia, and Kenny de Leon each put up one goal and one assist in the winning effort, while Henry Romeo and James Paz each scored a goal. Jefferson Paz added an assist.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Lynn Tech/KIPP 23, Minuteman 32
The Tigers took three of the top five spots en route to the victory, with Brian Zarate winning the overall race. Alan Barrios finished in second place, while Edwin Gomez finished fifth. Bryton Osgood (sixth place), Alberto Gerardo (ninth place) and Anthony Perez (11th place) also had solid finishes in the win.
Tech (2-0) runs at Innovation Wednesday (4).
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Lynn Tech/KIPP 26, Minuteman 29
Angalina Castillo finished second to lead the way for Tech, while Flory Mendez finished third and Dianne Pheun finished sixth. Kassandra Pena (seventh place), Andrea Perez (eighth place) and Briana Anderson (11th place) also ran well for the Tigers.
