SAUGUS — Sunday afternoon the Kowloon was rocking for a good cause.
Rockin’ 4 Vets put on the event and brought out the classic rock band John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band to perform for the crowd at the Saugus landmark. The event was raising money to help local organization Veterans Assisting Veterans, which was started by Saugus resident Dennis Moschella.
The event helped raise funds for Veterans Assisting Veterans to bring 10 Vietnam vets to Washington, D.C. this fall. The trip will consist of a tour of the city and include a visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Bobby Wong’s family owns the restaurant and after being approached about the event he said they were eager to help out. Rockin’ 4 Vets wasn’t charged for using the venue and all the profits went to the organization.
When COVID-19 hit, Kowloon transformed their restaurant to include outdoor dining space, and Wong said that it has been great for patrons who may have concerns about eating indoors with a large number of people.
Wong also added that he expected an excess of 300 people to attend the event.
