LYNN — Diverse People United will host a “Youth Rising Summit” in the main library at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute on Aug. 21 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
They will be presenting a free, civic and wholesome two-day conference where
youth will hear from community leaders and youth activists in Lynn.
This will be highly interactive and engaging, encouraging youth to bring ideas and questions as they explore ways to get involved in social issues through personal and community well-being in Lynn.
“Our Youth Rising Summit is an effort to engage Lynn youth with where they’re at in their understanding of not only themselves, but their community as well,” said Co-founder and Vice President of Diverse People United Neil Whittredge.
Presentations for this conference will include Michael Quintana, owner of Innergy Nutrition and Fitness Center; the city’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Faustina Cuevas; Prevent the Cycle youth activists; One Lynn One Love youth activists; and Solidarity North Shore youth activists.
The keynote speakers will be Attorney Ogor Okoye from BOS Legal LLC and Lynn Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Patrick Tutwiler.
As the summer winds down and the start of the new school year approaches, Diverse People United said it is “crucial that we prepare our community’s youth to become future leaders and change-makers in Lynn.”
