LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield Public Schools is partnering with Pelmeds Pharmacy to offer a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Monday for students ages 12 and older.
The Pfizer vaccine will be offered at the clinic, which will run from 4-6 p.m. at Lynnfield Middle School. A second-dose clinic at the same location will be held on Monday, Aug. 30 from 4-6 p.m.
The clinic is open to all Lynnfield students, ages 12 and older, and public school employees. Town students who do not attend the public schools are also eligible; students under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
“If your child is eligible to be vaccinated and has not yet been vaccinated, we strongly recommend you to get your child vaccinated,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristen Vogel, who organized the clinic with COVID-19 Nurse Liaison Toni Rebelo.
School Committee Chair Rich Sjoberg said Vogel and Rebelo have been assured by Pelmeds that there will be enough vaccines for all who register.
“We’ve been told that anyone who wants one will be able to get them,” Sjoberg said. “Kristen and Toni have done a great job putting this together so that parents will have another opportunity to get their children vaccinated before the start of the school year.”
Registration is required; walk-ins will not be accepted under any circumstances. Residents are required to complete a COVID vaccine consent form with proof of parental consent; the form must be printed and presented at a resident’s scheduled appointment.
Students and staff who have already received their first dose at another location are welcome to register for a second dose at either clinic. Individuals receiving a vaccine will be observed for 15 to 30 minutes depending on their medical history and clinical condition.
Vogel said the district is in the process of reviewing recommendations regarding masks, quarantining and testing for schools this fall, which were released this week by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
“We will review these recommendations and will share our plan sometime the week of Aug. 9,” Vogel said.
Appointments are required, which can be reserved through the school district’s website. A link to register for the second-dose clinic will be sent after students or employees have received their first dose at next week’s clinic. Each person requesting a vaccine must register for a separate appointment to ensure enough vaccines are available.
