LYNN — Election season is underway as more than 25 candidates vie for the positions of mayor and city councilors and for seats on the School Committee.
The election office determined ballot placements for each political seat on Monday morning through a process that includes pulling out numbered balls for each position — similar to bingo and the Vietnam war draft.
The election team at City Hall pulled numbers for each candidate, in alphabetical order, to ensure the order is chosen fairly.
For mayor, School Committee member Michael Satterwhite will be first on the ballot, followed by City Council President Darren Cyr and School Committee member Jared Nicholson.
For Councilor-at-Large, incumbent Brian LaPierre will be first on the ballot, followed by fellow incumbents Hong Net and Brian Field. Fourth on the ballot for Councilor-at-Large is Nicole McClain, then Marven Hyppolite, Jose Encarnacion and incumbent Buzzy Barton.
For ward councilors, Wayne Lozzi is running unopposed for Ward One. For Ward Two, the ballot will see Elizabeth Figueroa and incumbent Richard Starbard.
Running for Ward Three councilor, a seat previously held by Darren Cyr, are Coco Alinsug and George Meimeteas.
For Ward Four, incumbent Richard Colucci is running against Natasha Megie-Maddrey.
Ward Five incumbent Dianna Chakoutis is running unopposed, as are current Ward Six Councilor Fred Hogan and Ward Seven Councilor Jay Walsh.
For School Committee, Tiffany Jean Magnolia will be first on the ballot, followed by Sandra Lopez, Daniel Richard and incumbents Donna Coppola and Brian Castellanos. After Castellanos, the ballot will include Lenny Pena, incumbent Lorraine Gately, Eric Dugan and PoSan Ung.
The preliminary election is on Sept. 14, and the final election is Nov. 2.
Registration to vote for the preliminary election ended on Aug. 25, but registration to vote in the final election is open until Oct. 13 and can be done in the election office in City Hall until 8 p.m.
