To the editor:
Louie Gallo was a friend, a historian, an artist, a family member, a giver and he had a great sense of humor.
As I wallow in my sorrows at his passing, thinking that I am so sad, I have realized that it is not only me that feels this way; it is so many. That was his way: He made everyone feel as if they were best friends with Louie.
He was so down to earth, never stuffy. His stories were endless and, as a history buff, I gobbled them up. I am so glad the library recorded his podcast on the Fish House. Honestly, there could have been scores of them if there was time to record everything he said. Betty Holmes did record many of the History Buff sessions and they are kept at the library.
I am now treasuring all that I can remember from tales he told of Swampscott. We will remember him forever. Rest in peace, dear Louie.
