Due to heavy rainfall, the first round of the 113th Massachusetts Amateur Championship at Brae Burn Country Club in Newton has been postponed until Tuesday, July 13.
The championship will now run from Tuesday to Saturday, with two days of stroke play followed by three days of match play — including the 36-hole championship match on Saturday.
A number of local players are set to tee off in the championship this year, including Swampscott natives and Kernwood Country Club members Christian and Aidan Emmerich. Christian Emmerich will tee off from the 10th tee on Tuesday afternoon at 12:48 p.m. for the first round of stroke play, then he’ll come back Wednesday morning for an 8:03 a.m. tee time from the first tee. Aidan Emmerich has the opposite draw, teeing off from the 10th tee at 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday before coming back to tee off from the first tee at 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday.
A trio of Tedesco Country Club members in Brad Tufts, Hunter Stone and George Zolotas are also competing. Stone will be teeing off from the first tee at 7:41 a.m. on Tuesday and then from the 10th tee at 12:26 p.m. on Wednesday. Tufts tees off from the first tee at 8:03 a.m. on Tuesday and then from the 10th tee at 12:48 p.m. on Wednesday. Zolotas will tee off from the 10th tee at 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday and then from the first tee at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
Other locals competing include Salem Country Club’s Ryan Daly — who is in the first group off of the first tee at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday and then teeing off from the 10th tee at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday — and Amesbury Golf & Country Club’s Chris Francoeur — who tees off from the first tee at 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday and from the 10th tee at 8:25 a.m. on Wednesday.
