Josh Doney was a force to be reckoned with Thursday night for the Lynn Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Stars, pitching six shutout innings of a rain shortened game and leading Lynn to a 4-0 win at home against Andover.

Doney allowed just one hit and two walks and tallied nine strikeouts in the win.

Manuel Alexander Lara led the way with a pair of RBI. Richie Avery had a pair of hits, including a double. Levy Dasilva had a hit, RBI and scored a run.

In typical fashion, Lynn was stealing bases all game long. Matt Lewis got that started in the second inning when he singled and stole second base. Christian Figueroa followed with a single himself to plate Lewis and give Lynn a 1-0 lead, Figueroa stole a base himself later in the inning and Avery laced his double but Lynn stranded both runners.

Lynn got back at it in the third inning with Gilly Galva reaching on a single and stealing second base. Jaiden Driscoll matched that with a single and a stolen base of his own to put runners in scoring position. A sacrifice fly by Dasilva drove in a run to put Lynn up 2-0.

Later on Lara added his two RBI, including a fielder’s choice that plated Driscoll and gave Doney all the insurance runs he needed to close things out.

The Lynn Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Stars (2-0) continue preliminary round play Saturday (10 a.m.) at Breed against Peabody.
