LYNN — A suspect has been arrested and charged for a Quincy Terrace shooting in December that left one person dead and five injured.
Darwin Mejia, 22, of Lynn, was charged with one count of murder for the shooting, which occurred on day after Christmas and killed 31-year-old Gustavo Santana, also of Lynn.
Mejia was arrested at his home on Thursday morning by Lynn Police and Massachusetts State Police and arraigned in Lynn District Court. He pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
At approximately 5:35 p.m. December 26, Lynn Police responded to the area of Quincy Terrace, where a low-budget music video was being filmed, after receiving multiple reports of gunshots. Witnesses at the scene said they heard a spray of bullets that they believed may have come from an automatic or semi-automatic weapon.
Several of the victims fled down Washington Street after being shot.
Two of the six victims were brought to Salem Hospital, while the other four were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Santana was pronounced dead later that evening.
Mejia will next appear in court on August 16.
