LYNN — The man charged in the accidental shooting of a 15-year-old girl Friday night on North Common Terrace is expected to be arraigned Monday in Lynn District Court, police said.
Michael Tate, 23, was arrested Friday, after shooting the unidentified girl, apparently accidentally, in the torso, Lynn Police said. She is expected to survive, even though she was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a statement by Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec.
Police rushed to the site, a driveway-like alley off North Common Street that opens up into a courtyard and a lot with several facing apartment houses. According to reports, Tate was playing with the gun and did not notice there was still a round inside.
Tate, 23, will be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
