SWAMPSCOTT — The town’s outdoor summer concert series will return this Sunday with a performance by blues band the L&M Rhythm Kings.
The performance will be held on the Town Hall lawn, 22 Monument Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 26. Attendance is free.
“We’re getting back out there,” said Danielle Strauss, director of the Swampscott Recreation Department, which is sponsoring the concert series. “We’re excited that we’re finally moving forward.”
The band is made up of vocalist and guitarist Larry Lusignan, vocalist and keyboard player Mark Longo, bass guitarist Mike Rush and drummer Glenn Rogers. Each of the band members has over 30 years of professional music experience playing in blues, R&B and roots acts, and have played alongside well-known artists like Ronnie Earl and Roomful of Blues.
Unlike previous years, the concert series will not be held every weekend, Strauss said, as they were not able to complete as much fundraising due to the pandemic. While there is not yet a full lineup for the series, local musician Brian Maes will perform on July 14 and they hope to host two more performances throughout the summer.
The concert series is funded with grants from Eastern Bank and the Swampscott Cultural Council.
