Thanks to a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning from Cam O’Brien, the Swampscott baseball team notched an 8-7 victory over Northeastern Conference foe Saugus on Senior Night Thursday night at Forest Avenue Park.
O’Brien hit two home runs and three RBI on the day.
The Big Blue led 7-1 at one point in the game, but Saugus ended up rallying back to tie the score up at 7-7 before O’Brien walked it off.
Jonah Cadorette added a double and three RBI in the win, while Matt McIntire had two hits and an RBI.
Pierce Friedman earned the win on the mound for Swampscott, pitching two innings of relief and notching three strikeouts.
Saugus (5-8) plays on the road at Marblehead Monday (4:30).
Swampscott (6-7) has a quick turnaround with a road game against Winthrop Friday (4).
BASEBALL
English 9, Everett 3
The Bulldogs battled back with a seven-run rally in the top of the sixth inning to take home the win on the road at Glendale Park in Everett.
Yordy Contreras led the offensive attack for English, going 1-for-4 with two RBI. Brendan Falasca (2-for-2), Angel Gonzalez (1-for-4) and Jeremies Brito (1-for-2) each had one RBI in the win, while Luis Pina went 2-for-3 with a double and Clodys Prandys went 1-for-3 with a triple.
Manuel Taveras earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete game and allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
English (4-2) travels to Somerville Friday (4).
Pentucket 9, Lynnfield 1
Lynnfield (6-8) travels to North Reading for its regular season finale Monday afternoon (4).
SOFTBALL
Marblehead 6, Saugus 5
The Magicians were down 5-4 in the top of the seventh before rallying back with three runs to take the lead and win it.
Madi Monahan went 2-for-4 with a home run and had two RBI, while Ashleigh Monahan went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Jolie Quintana went 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI, while Maeve Sogoloff went 2-for-4 with a triple and Amelia Rogers went 2-for-4.
Lauren Donovan earned the win in the circle, allowing five runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
Saugus (8-3) travels to Swampscott Friday (4:30).
Marblehead (6-6) hosts Salem Monday (4).
BOYS LACROSSE
Peabody 8, Masconomet 3
Anthony Bettencourt led the offense with four goals, while Keenan Madden had two goals and two assists. Tristan Ell scored two goals, while Drew Lucas and Cam Collins each had an assist. Goalie Derek Patturelli notched 16 saves in the win.
Peabody (10-2) travels to Marblehead Saturday night (7).
Beverly 13, Winthrop 6
Winthrop hosts Danvers Monday (4).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Masconomet 8, Peabody 7
Hailie Lomasney had three goals and two assists in the loss for the Tanners, while Amber Kiricoples scored three goals. McKayla Fisher scored a goal.
On the defensive end, Elise Staunton, Emily McDonough, Jordyn Collins and Sam Silva all played well. Goalie Olivia Lavalle had 15 saves.
Peabody (8-4) hosts Marblehead Saturday morning (10).

The Magicians got singles wins from Mika Garber (6-0, 6-0), Jack Donovan (6-3, 6-2) and Daniel Farfel (6-3, 6-1). The doubles team of Kipp Schauder and Dwight Foster (6-1, 6-3) and the doubles team of Christopher Thompson and Aidan Ryan (6-1, 6-4) also earned wins for the Magicians.

Winners for the Bulldogs were Shakib Idris in first singles (6-2, 6-2), Ryan Walker in second singles (6-2, 6-2) and Jacob Johansson in third singles (7-5, 6-3).

GIRLS TENNIS
Marblehead 5, Gloucester 0
On Senior Day, the Magicians got wins from Jessie Munroe (6-1, 6-1), Cannan Whittier (6-1, 6-1) and Tess Keaney (6-0, 6-0) in singles play. The doubles teams also remained undefeated on the year, with the team of Emily Clough and Lauren Podgur and the team of Ava Ulian and Leah Saulnier each winning 6-0, 6-0.
Marblehead travels to Beverly Monday (4).
Lynnfield 5, Amesbury 0
The Pioneers blanked their Cape Ann League rivals thanks to singles wins from Emma Gallucci (6-0, 6-1), Ava Buonfiglio (6-4, 6-2) and Anna Radulski (6-0, 6-0) and doubles wins from the team of Emily Goguen and Lauren Graba (6-2, 6-0) and the team of Genna Gioioso and Gabi Mellor (6-1, 6-2).
