BOSTON — A member of the MS-13 gang pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to two murders, one in Lynn in 2018, and racketeering or RICO conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
Henri Salvador Gutierrez, also known as “Perverso,” 22, a Salvadorian national, admitted to the 2018 murder of a teenage boy in Lynn as well as a 2016 East Boston murder.
Gutierrez and six other MS-13 members were indicted in November 2018 for the Lynn murder. The body of a teenage boy was found in a park in the city on Aug. 2 of that year with dozens of stab wounds. Gutierrez admitted that he participated in the murder, and evidence presented in court showed that he personally stabbed the victim numerous times, prosecutors said.
According to the evidence, he and his co-conspirators committed the murder because they believed the victim was disloyal to the gang and may have been cooperating with law enforcement.
Gutierrez is the fifth defendant in the case to plead guilty to the murder, which took place on or around July 30.
He also admitted to another murder of a teenage boy on or about Dec. 24, 2016 in East Boston. According to evidence, Gutierrez stabbed the victim numerous times because he believed that the boy belonged to a rival gang.
The charge of RICO conspiracy involving murder, provides for a sentence of up to life in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. Gutierrez will also be subject to deportation upon the completion of his sentence. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
MS-13 is a transnational street gang operating in Massachusetts and numerous other states, as well as countries such as El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. Gutierrez was a member of the Sykos Locos Salvatrucha clique of MS-13.
